Blood Relation questions are a common topic in SSC CGL reasoning. They test your ability to analyze family relationships and determine connections logically.

These questions are scoring because once you understand the family structure, solutions become straightforward.

2. Definition

Blood Relation questions involve figuring out relationships between family members based on the information provided in the question. The relationship can be direct (father, mother, brother) or indirect (uncle, cousin, nephew).

Example: "Pointing to a man, Ravi says, 'He is my father's brother's only son.' How is the man related to Ravi?"

Solution: Father's brother = Uncle, Uncle's son = Cousin

Answer: Cousin

3. Types of Blood Relation Questions

Direct Relations:

Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Son, Daughter.

Example: "A is the father of B. How is B related to A?" → Answer: Son/Daughter

Indirect Relations:

Uncle, Aunt, Nephew, Niece, Cousin.

Example: "B is C's mother's brother's son. How is B related to C?" → Answer: Cousin

Mixed Relations:

Combination of direct and indirect relations in a single question.

Example: "A is the sister of B. B is the mother of C. How is A related to C?" → Answer: Maternal Aunt

Gender-Neutral/Tricky Wording:

Sometimes the question uses words like 'only son,' 'elder brother,' etc.

Careful reading is required to avoid mistakes.

Answer: Grandfather
